K2 – Atlas Snowshoes
The Overview – Reaching the Outdoor Enthusiast
K2 Outdoor is at the forefront of designing and manufacturing cutting edge outdoor equipment. Whether it be snowboards, skis, apparel or snowshoes, they have continued to make great gear for every level of recreation interest. The company’s snowshoe line, Atlas, is no different, with a wide range of snowshoes for everyone from the small kids to hard-core snowshoe racers.
K2 approached Sparkworks Media about creating visually compelling product overviews for each of their Atlas shoes. After the first series of videos (11 total), K2 wanted to expand on the idea and combine not only a compelling series of product overviews, but capture the energy of snowshoeing.
The Solution – Compelling Work / Budget Consciousness
We presented K2 with a series of creative approaches that would fit within their needed timeline and budget. The winning creative concept would open on a lone individual running in the snowy wilderness, allowing the sights and sounds of the beautiful Cascade mountains to take center stage, and the second half would feature dynamic product shots. The contrast between the two would be exemplified by the difference in sound design, music and editing approach. Since the videos would be reaching their audience online, the length was kept to a tight 60-90 seconds and the visual approach worked seamlessly with the clean design of Atlas’ website. To properly identify and communicate the visuals, storyboards were developed.
The Results – Above Expectations
The videos not only captured the freedom and energy of snowshoeing but fit perfectly into the marketing campaign for Atlas’ and its retailers.
